We had a few other RVs before Walter. They were great to us, but we didn’t use them as often as we’d of liked and we also didn’t take the cats with us. Fast forward to a global pandemic happening and seeing how differently everyone chose to deal with it … well, we decided we wanted to get out of the house and go places (safely!) while not having to rely on others to keep our babies safe. Besides, we all miss our babies when we’re away from them anyway, right?!?! So, Walter had the right setup and layout to make it easier to travel with the fuzzies and that was a big part of trading up to this big boy.
For them to be comfortable in here, we wanted them to have things that they’re used to from home. Similar toys, scratching surfaces, etc. Well, the very first order of business in this guy was the couch – it was uuuuuugly. And the complete opposite of comfy, so it had to go, but that’s a post for another time. Replacing that with our recliners left the perfect amount of space for a cat tree! And not just any cat tree, one that was very similar to one of the ones they had in the house. We also recycled some of the bolts that used to help secure the couch to keep the tree in one place, especially while in transit!
Well…. they love it! So much so that we’re already having to replace or reattach some of the sisal on the posts. Good thing that I brought the hot glue gun, of all things! Seriously, I’m not a crafty person and never owned one until about 4 or 5 months ago for another cat / RV related project (future post!).
More travel cat related content coming soon. Got some in mind, but willing to take requests from anyone actually reading this. In the mean time, safe travels, everyone!
