Well… Here we are facing another adventure, but EVERYTHING has changed.
In the interim from our last posts, we bought a house(!!!!), had our salvaged items returned to us, settled with the insurance for the physical structure, sold the property, lost some friends and gained some too… to say it is a whirlwind in the span of a few months is absolutely true. We had a few things to settle, and a few things to do, but as of early March, we had taken all of those steps.
First step, we recovered all of the items from the SC salvage company that did the work for us. Y’all… how the hell our wedding photos survived given what we saw… no idea.
The surprises kept coming. With about 20 boxes out of 90 opened, we have been absolutely amazed at the things that were salvaged.
But equally the disparity of location determined the result of what was able to be saved.
Next was Walter… the reason for this… our life boat.
Walter stood out in our lives as this juxtiposition of pain and love. Without him and the reasons we traded our Barney (5th wheel), we might not be here. It’s a path that is traces back nearly two years before and what seems like a lifetime ago.
When we parked Walter in November, we weren’t sure we would ever be okay taking him out again. Then he sat for a few weeks, a month, two months, three months… We talked about what to do. If we ever enjoy the RV life again, if we sell and be done, or trade. Trade and go the same, up or down. Where does the future stand for us.
Sadly, we both knew the days were numbered for Walter. Our own mental health couldn’t stand take it. Wrapping our heads around having “fun” in the guy that saved our lives almost seemed counter to each feeling. Yet he was the guy that saved us. All – Of – Us!
We ultimately found that parting ways was going to be the best path forward. Walter deserves the best with a new family that will love him and treat him like the king he is. The big boy on the highway, and castle in the campground. We loved that big boy, Sir Walter of the Loyal Order ofFloofinatti… So we needed to change, at least we believe, for all of our sakes.
So today, we just wrapped up our shake down cruise with our new guy Wally or Walter Jr, of the Loyal Order of Floofinatti (look we are all making up words here, just don’t tell Curry..).
Off to our next adventures, and the next wander!
Florida here we come!
