So we had an uneventful, and honestly rather uninteresting travel from Margaritaville to Louisville, KY. At some point, I even said to my beautiful wife, ‘wow, this trip just isn’t interesting…’ We drove from one interstate to another, and maybe we have footage of climbing to the top of the mountain at the Cumberland Gap exit, or maybe something at the top of another hill, or maybe there was the car that cut us off… but really, the drive from just outside Knoxville to Louisville was just… meh. Okay, so you will likely see some footage of our trip but just to set your expectations.
So there we are. We arrived on a Saturday after about 5 hours of travel. So first, can we talk about being level? Yeah it’s a thing we should discuss. We weren’t level. We didn’t like it! I get it, sometimes it is tough, but seriously for the price we pay at least try, k? So we spent the week down to the left… okay, that we can deal with we just don’t prefer it. So on to the week. I had a work trip here, so we decided moving our family and enjoying bourbon trail part 2, 2022 was more fun.
First weekend here, we hit Jim Beam. Said location was not open on our 2021 visit, so this was a new to us visit. WOW! Let me just say, WOW! What a great view, experience and food! We even went back just for food! Good times and a great place. For us, we’ve never had a Basil Haden Toasted, so that was a great find, and we even took the last bottle at the visitors center! Sooo Goood!
I did my work thing this week, going to Angels Envy, Three Boys Farm and Distillery and then Uncle Boojie’s. Good times. If you drink the brown juice then I highly recommend. I understand not everyone does so as you expect, you can do many fun things without the juice.
The week has come and gone. The KOA is nice, but we would prefer a less noisy spot, but appreciate that our neighbor three sites down is also in the same Entegra group. We are looking forward to our visit to the FMCA mothership for the week. This will let us visit Cincinnati together, since we have never been there, together. I’ll visit my office space, we’ll enjoy some of the travel spots we have each hit, and hopefully enjoy a ball game at the “Great American Park.”
We must all determine how to respond to life and the curveballs we are thrown. For us, we will just go see a ballgame.
Okay, so we didn’t see a ballgame, but we did visit the park together. So here is the thing, we have both been to the ballpark… separately. So if we go walk in the stadium area, that should count we have been there together, right? Of course it does! Even more so given that we missed the Sunday tours and there wasn’t a game. So yeah we are good. Anyway, we had lunch in the stadium area, then went off to ride scooters around the waterfront like dumb assess. But hey, when possible, do the things that make others laugh and cringe because they won’t do it! All kidding aside, we had a blast puttering around the waterfront area. Afterwards, we head back across the river to Kentucky. We drive by some of the usual suspects (one of us has been there before a time or five) to see if they are open, most were, but parking was not available, or if there was parking, the spots weren’t open. Fine, we go to the Biergarten… fun! enough said…
Okay so we had fun for the weekend. It was a short drive from Louisville to Cincinnati, we unhooked and had a great weekend! Good food, good times! The FMCA campground was a hit. First, no fire pits! Let’s be clear here, this is our home, no need for it to stink. Plus for most of the week, the campground was pretty well less than 50% full. We walked around the lake and enjoyed the space and quiet. We would highly recommend you don’t go there, so we can go back 🙂 But seriously, great spot, if you are an FMCA member, no excuse. Hit them up! Everything you need, nothing you don’t!
Off to the Pittsburgh area to see some family then on to Maryland for the same! We will be parked for a while in Maryland… Looking forward to sleeping in on a weekend, and enjoying time with our family and best friends.
Until the next time; be safe and we will see you out there!
